Book Act of the Year

This year, the jury decided to give an honourable mention to a particularly thought-provoking work. This led to the creation of the Book Act award, addressing the need to highlight a finalist of exceptional impact and significance. The award is given to a work that brings an important perspective to today’s literary discussion or expands the traditional definition of a beautiful or well-crafted book.

This year’s Book Act award goes to Hei muuten comic book series, which expands the role of a book as an object. In addition to its artistic merit as a book, Hei muuten provides a platform for expression and publishing to artists with special needs, who are often excluded from the traditional comic book scene. The series consists of eight comic works created in supported art studios across Finland.
